It is in times of distress that hope is truly found. How you handle those periods of duress is a mark of character. Whether you're the one in pain, providing sanctuary, or even if that ache is mutual, hurt/comfort is all about empathy. Connecting with the people around you.

16. separation/homesickness: whatever it is, the nostalgia's got you missing something (or someone) awfully.
17. betrayal: your trust has been violated, but is it a real or imagined slight?
18. stranded: you're stuck. maybe someone crashed your only ship for the 50th damn time. are you sure this isn't reality tv?
19. sins & guilt: the weight of your past deeds is like holding a world on your shoulders. maybe it's time to seek some help, atlas.

::He winces at that. While Kun had been dead for nearly a thousand years by the time he was born, stories of him were still in plenty. Along with the creatures he created.::

He's not high on my list of people to meet, no. You're lucky to have gotten out of that relatively intact. The soul-ripping was done to someone else, I take it?

I wish... I helped him do it.

[The shame feels suffocating and he's projecting it into the Force instinctively. Speaking to a Sith should be easier than talking to someone who would have qualms against such crimes but... It feels almost worse.]

::He mulls that over, working out how such a thing would even be done without a Rakata mind trap before shaking his head.::

It probably would have been kinder to just kill whoever the two of you went after.

::Then he's carefully blocking the worst of what Kyp's radiating. He gets the idea, he doesn't need to be drowning in it.::

Do you know how he came to be Sith? He's actually a fairly effective cautionary tale for Jedi.

No, he didn't talk about that.

[But, now that Garth'zel mentions it, it has his attention completely. If there's something worth a Jedi learning from it, he wants to learn it.]

This probably isn't the time or place to go into detail, so I'll stick to the most important parts. He was once a Jedi. At the time he wanted to learn to be the greatest one there ever was, but he was overly prideful of his abilities and impatient. He thought his Master wasn't teaching him fast enough so he began looking into things on his own, some of which his Master knew he wasn't ready for yet.

Eventually, he came to the attention of the ghost of a long dead Sith who offered to teach him what he wanted to know to become powerful. Thus began his fall. Any of this sound familiar?

::Garth'zel raises an eyebrow at Kyp at the end. He has the feeling it should. After all, it's very hard to tempt Jedi away from the Light when there isn't something there to work with.::

[Kyp nods, turning away with a hand clamped over his mouth. His motives had been different. He never cared about being the best Jedi. But the rest of the story was his own.

He takes a few moments to be sure his stomach has calmed.]

That... He wanted me to take his place, didn't he?

::Garth'zel watches him quietly, giving him time to pull himself together.::

It's likely. Or to replace you, given time to wear you away into nothing to let him take control. He strikes me as the sort to do that. Why have a pawn to do his work for him if he can gain the satisfaction of doing it himself?

::There's a pleasant thought. Kun attempting to rebuild his empire and recreating his creatures.::

And I... [He shakes his head, barely able to process what could have happened.] I would have destroyed everything for... for worse than nothing.

Yes. The galaxy already suffered through him once, it really does not need him coming back. He did enough damage the first time.

::To say the least. Right. It's probably getting to be about time to side-track Kyp before he potentially becomes a useless lump of guilt.::

You should probably make that call and find out how long we have to wait to get off this planet.

::He squints at the sky, trying to gauge how much daylight was left.::

If they're not going to be here before nightfall, I'd like to make it back to where I've been spending my nights to avoid dealing with the predators.

[Kyp can't really afford to let himself become useless. The whole reason he's still alive is because he owes the galaxy for what he did under Exar Kun's influence. But it's a near thing some days.]

Right. Calling General Solo. And it'll probably be several hours, at least, until anyone gets here. Maybe a few days.

We'll hope for a day or two at most. Given what you've told me, I don't think staying where I'm planning to head off to for much longer than that would be good for you.

::There would be temptation in the form of Sith relics everywhere.::

I've been staying where a Sith from my time set up a collection of things they wanted to keep safe. When we get there, don't touch anything. Some of it, I'm not sure what it does and its best not to find out, lest it turns out to be the hard way.

Master Skywalker will want to know about that.

Mm-hmm. Some are benevolent enough. Artwork and the like. The things you should leave alone are towards the back of the chamber.

You may want to tell Solo to bring along some things he doesn't care about getting destroyed and are for the compactor or whatever anyway.
